Tyrus Raymond Cobb, nicknamed The Georgia Peach, is an American midfielder in the Major League baseball tournament. He was born in rural Narrows, Georgia. Cobb spent 22 with the Detroit Tigers, the last six as managing the team's player, and ending his career with the Philadelphia Athletics. In 1936, Cobb received the most votes of any player in the inaugural ballot of the Baseball Fame Hall, receiving 222 of the 226 possible votes; No other player received a higher percentage of votes until Tom Seaver in 1992. In 1999, Sporting News ranked Ty Cobb third on the list of "100 greatest baseball players". Cobb is widely recognized for setting 90 MLB records in his career. His total score is 4,065 points and his points are still the highest ever created by a player in the major tournament. He still holds a number of records at the end of the 2019 season, including the highest hitting average in a career and most of the polished titles in his career with 11.
