John Michael Turturro is an American actor, writer, producer and director known for his association with the independent film movement. He has appeared in more than sixty feature films and regularly works with the Coen brothers, Adam Sandler and Spike Lee. He began his acting career on screen in the early 1980s and quickly received critical recognition with the independent film Five Corners. Turturro's major breakthrough came with Lee and Miller's Crossing Do the Right Thing and Coens' Barton Fink, which won him the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival. His follow-up roles include Herb Stempel in Quiz Show, Jesus Quintana in The Big Lebowski and The Jesus Rolls, Pete Hogwallop in O Brother, Where Art Thou ?, Seymour Simmons in the Transformers franchise and is expected to star.
